Industry Forum
Industry Forum provides specialized conference sessions hosting speakers from industry to discuss product and technology directions, challenges, and other industry issues with creation, application, and production of products using Industrial Electronics Technologies and necessary computational, communications, and security infrastructures needed to use these technologies. Speakers are to focus their presentations on technical challenges of interest to the technical audience; there is no written conference publication. Speakers are expected to interact with the conference attendees to discuss Industry issues. Admission to the industry forum sessions is complimentary for all conference attendees.
For IECON 2012 the general Industry Forum chairs are Michael Condry, the IES Industry Forum Chair, and Richard MacDonald, the IECON 2012 Industry Forum Co-Chair. For IECON 2012 there are 3 focused Industry Forums and 3 Industrial Luncheon Speakers.
- FPGA Technologies (Chair: Michael Condry – Co-Chair: Richard Grisel) – FPGAs are playing multiple roles in industry applications. This session discusses directions, tools and applications of FPGAs in industry uses. This will proceeded by a hands-on tutorial on FPGA-based VHDL design and embedded systems by Richard Grisel on the tutorial day.
- Security risks for industrial computing (Chair: Michael Condry – Co-Chair: Richard Macdonald) – Security is an increasingly growing and complex problem particularly for industry solutions where critical infrastructure can be attacked. There will be Industry speakers addressing different technology area exposing the challenges and directions of security across industrial electronics technologies including control systems, remote power management, and others.
- Electric Vehicle and Infrastructure Systems (Chair: Joachim Taiber – Co-Chair: Victor Huang)–session on different aspects of vehicle electrification and related infrastructure development including electric vehicle key components such as battery and controller technologies, vehicle-to-infrastructure communication aspects and charging infrastructure (e.g. wireless charging).
